We had an update today which sounds very promising. There is a plan to place children with all 70 families who are with our agency by the end of the year. This is contingent on the submission of the letter of intent to renew. The US must submit this by March 2008 or adoptions with Vietnam will be closed in August 2008. Currently, there are 1500 families logged into Vietnam waiting to adopt and many more still in process. We are a logged in family and we have no idea how things will progress if the agreement is not renewed. The only action we have at this point is to ask our Senators to express to the State Department our desire to renew adoption agreement with Vietnam. Please have anyone you know contact their Senator (most have an email address). The next few weeks will be long anxious wait for all of the families who have had their hearts set on bringing home a baby.
