Happy New Year

The Vietnam New Years is approaching. Tet is the name of the celebration in Vietnam. I asked a girl from Vietnam what is a tradition in celebrating New Years. She explained that gambling is illegal in the country unless you can prove you are visiting there from out of the country. However, on New Years, everyone may gamble legally so there is a lot of card playing along with eating for this holiday. All activities basically come to a screeching halt for about two weeks around this time. This does not help in making progress to improve the adoption relationship and submit necessary plans for improvement. With March only a few weeks away, this time of inactivity does not help our situation.

We are due for an update on Friday which will hopefully bring news of the letter to the State Department from the JCSIS and the conference call between officials. However, these too may be affected by the holiday.
