US/Vietnam willingness to work together

The US and Vietnam made a joint statement in regards to continuing adoptions. The US is now willing to begin renegotiation's to enter into a new bilateral agreement with Vietnam. At one time, it was believed that the US would ONLY continue adoptions once Vietnam became a Hague country. This is a major break through for the possibility of adoptions to continue some day. Both countries realize that this new bilateral agreement will need to address problems within the current system.
We haven't received our paperwork back yet from Vietnam. I hope for other families that this could mean Vietnam will keep the list of families for when a new agreement is signed. For so many people, Vietnam was their only hope for adoption and creating a family. Of course, we will continue on with Korea and have no desire to adopt from Vietnam at this point. What great news for the orphans!
