Dear Aspen's Parents,
Hello!
We are very pleased to start communicating to you by letter. We want to really thank you for adopting Aspen, even though you already have 3 children of your own. She is very lovely and happy baby and we love her very much. We though we might bring you up to date on how she lives in here with our family.
When we first met Aspen, she looked tired because of a slight cold. We were a little worried about that, but she soon settled in with us and ate and drank very well. She likes milk, cheese, yoghourt, fruit, cookie, meat and fish. She seems to love food and eats well. She is very healthy and well-developed.
Aspen is a very curious and active baby. She loves to open drawers and mom or sister's bag and explore anything she can get her hands on. Her favorite is a cell-phone.
She loves to play with brother. He loves to play with Aspen, too. The two are very good friends each other.
Aspens says a lot of words and understands everything we say to her. She knows the following words: Dad (ab Ba), Mom (Um Ma), Sister ( Eun Ni), Brother (Ob Ba), More milk (Woo You Ju Se Yo), More Cheese (Cheese Ju Se Yo) Hello, dog, hat, shoes clothes, etc.
She knows that her English name is Aspen. When we call "Aspen", she replies to us "yes(ne)". She is very cute and smart. She seems to learn language better than her years.
She learned to walk 11 months of age and now she can run faster. She loves to go outside with daddy by car. Daddy is her favorite person.
Finally, we want to appreciate you for your presents. We dress Aspen with all the beautiful clothes you sent. We are so touched by her brother's paintings and a dog recorded with lovely songs. Thank you Shane, Blake and Vaughn! Aspen loves it!
And we are very surprised that you sent a letter to us written in Korean. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Thank you very much for the generous gifts for our family, too. We'll promise that we'll provide loving care to Aspen while she is with us. We look forward to keeping in touch with your family.

What an amazing foster family your daughter has and what an awesome opportunity to be able to receive such a detailed description of her life with them. I just think it's so neat that they are willing to be so open with you!

That is so amazing!!! What a great foster family and what a treasure to know so much detail on Aspen's life. Also, when she talks to you, you'll know what she's saying. I hope they keep updating you on her words in the time before she comes home.
That is so wonderful! I bet these letters will be link to Aspens past that she will treasure greatly in the years ahead. I love that they are willing to call her by Aspen- I think it shows a lot of respect to you.
Oh Karen, what an amazing gift. Aspen is such a lucky lady to have great foster parents before she comes home to wonderful parents. This letter made me get teary-eyed. It must be so comforting to know she's in such good care and loved so much. And, how great that they're calling her by her American name! Lovely.
